ABOUT
When I told my husband that I wanted to get into goats, I had no idea where that would lead me. Now almost 10 years later, we have moved across country and have a herd of show goats! Originally what started in Illinois as a backyard hobby farm has blossomed into much more.
We started with boer goats, but quickly discovered they didn't offer what we were looking for. I started to do research on smaller breeds of goats and stumbled upon the Nigerian Dwarf. After a few short google searches of breeders in my area, I found Two Dogs Farm in Smithshire, IL. I called up Ann Alecock and told her where I was in my journey and she said when I was ready, call her back and she'd find something for me to get started with. 6 months later, I called her up and we drove out to her place to pick up our first 3 Nigerian Dwarfs. I of course stayed in touch with Ann, and 1 month later we were back at her place picking up another doe. After a simple invite to come see what a show was all about, I was driving home with a show wether for my son, and we were hooked!
Fast forward to 2021 when we decided to relocate to Alabama. My first and biggest request: "we gotta find somewhere that the goats can go too." After what seemed like forever, we found our new home in Berry, AL on 21 acres of land. Since then, my husband, son and I have been making it our home for us and our herd of 35-40 (cause you're never really sure how many are out there) Nigerians. We still stay in touch with all of our Illinois "goat family" and see them regularly, and have made new friends here. Feel free to follow along on our journey and see where we end up next. (it'll be right here, cause there's no way I'm moving my whole herd again :)
